History:
Introduced in 1959, Winstrol was marketed in the UK and US for medical uses like muscle wasting, osteoporosis, burns, and growth disorders. It gained notoriety after Canadian sprinter Ben Johnson tested positive for it in the 1988 Olympics.

Chemical Structure:
Winstrol is a DHT derivative with a unique pyrazol group that enhances its anabolic effects while lowering androgenic effects. It’s C17-alpha alkylated, making it orally active but hepatotoxic (liver toxic).

Mechanism:
It works by binding androgen receptors, suppresses SHBG (increasing free testosterone and steroids), and does not aromatize (no estrogen conversion). It has a strong anabolic rating (320) and low androgenic rating (30).

Pharmacokinetics:

• Oral half-life: ~9 hours

• Injectable half-life: ~24 hours

• Detection time: up to 2 months
